THE GREATS

Christopher Lee didn't achieve stardom until his association with Hammer Film Productions, which embellished his role as Dracula throughout the 1960s and into the early 1970s. Vincent Price made his screen debut in 1938. Known for his distinctive, low-pitched, creaky, atmospheric voice and his quizzical, mock-serious facial expressions, he went on to star in a series of acclaimed Gothic horror movies. John Carradine made his acting debut in 1925. He was an extremely prolific movie character actor and typed in later years as horror star and became a member of the "John Ford Stock Company." Peter Cushing became a familiar face at the end of the decade when he began acting in remakes of the 1930s Universal horror classics.
