In a series of fine art photographs, Gallery One marks the 40th anniversary of the United Arab Emirates. The exhibition, to be held on The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residences from 18th November, will contrast the old with the new – how the UAE looked at its inception and how the UAE looks today. The up-to-date images feature work by pioneering landscape photographer David Osborn. Using one of the most technically advanced cameras in the world, he captures panoramas in immense detail in images which afford the definitive view of the modern UAE. Historical black and white photographs by Anita Van Der Krol, show the UAE in the 1960’s and 70’s – a village like atmosphere in which windtowers and sandy streets still prevailed. Other images include the iconic works of Wilfred Thesiger who, in the 1940’s and 50’s spent much time living in and around Abu Dhabi and Dubai. According to Gallery group Founder and CEO, Gregg Sedgwick, ‘The contrast between then and now is remarkable and the images capture the UAE’s momentous changes in striking images’. The exhibition is supported by a range of collectable gifts and prints, all designed to commemorate the 40th celebrations.
