London is the capital of England and the United Kingdom and is the most visited City in the world. It has been a major settlement for two millennia – its history going back to its founding by the Romans. It is a place rich in photographic opportunity. From the famous landmarks to the seemingly mundane urban detail, the City exudes history, culture, texture and creativity. In 2010, Gregg Sedgwick and James Domine, of g-1, set about the task of capturing the City in striking images that would appeal to visitors and residents alike. Being one of the most photographed places on earth, the challenge was to create new and fresh perspectives, viewpoints and/or treatments on ubiquitous themes. The results provide a refreshingly beautiful interpretation of this great City. London is lovingly portrayed in highly graphic images constructed to celebrate London’s stature and variety. From moody black and white photographs to abstract montages, the images combine to create a very special collection.
