Jasem Sayed trained in the UK as a graphic designer where he received a first class honours degree. He describes his work as a mix of ‘found imagery combined with spontaneous photography and mixed media’. Obsessive about linearity and sometimes symmetrical pattern, Jasem training in graphics is evident in all that he creates. Working with his own photography and digital media, Jasem’s works combine energy with subtle colour and an assembly of Arabian iconography. In Patterns of Arabia, Jasim blends regional motifs, such as fatima hands and rudimentary geometry and overlays them with soft colour tones in a mosaic format. The result is a beatifully harmonized and semi-disciplined artwork designed to resonate with the Middle Eastern region.
